Power Automate "flow stopped: connection needs to be fixed": how to reconnect and resume
You see: 401 Unauthorized ยท connection is broken or needs to be fixed
What it means
One of the connections the flow uses (Outlook, SharePoint, Teams and so on) has expired or lost access, often after a password change, a multi-factor change or an admin policy. The flow cannot call the service until it is signed in again, so runs fail with a 401 or Unauthorized.
How to fix it
- In Power Automate open Data, then Connections, and find the connection marked with a warning. Click Fix connection (or sign in again).
- Open the flow and check each action uses the connection you just fixed, not an old one belonging to someone who has left.
- If the flow turned itself off, turn it on again from the flow's page.
- Open run history and Resubmit the runs that failed while it was broken.
If it keeps coming back
Flows owned by a person break when that person's account changes. Move important flows to a service account or share them with co-owners so someone else can fix the connection.
