Stories you recommend, in your order, each with a line on why. Your list stays on this device. Its link holds the whole list, so whoever opens the link reads the same stories. Nothing is posted.

Writing challenges
A challenge is a prompt in a fandom, with a last day to enter if its setter gives one. Writers enter stories they posted here, and only a story's own writer can enter it. When the challenge closes, the one who set it names up to 3 winners.

Writing Glossary
The words writers and readers use here.
- AU
- Alternate universe: the characters you know, in a different world or a different turn of events.
- Canon
- What the original book, show or game says happened.
- Crossover
- Characters from two or more stories meet.
- Drabble
- A very short story, traditionally exactly 100 words.
- Fandom
- The people who love a story, and the shelf their writing goes on.
- Fluff
- Light, warm, happy writing.
- Angst
- Writing about pain and longing; the opposite of fluff.
- Hurt/comfort
- One character is hurt and another looks after them.
- OC
- Original character: one you made up and added to someone else's world.
- OOC
- Out of character: a character acts in a way canon would not.
- One-shot
- A complete story in one chapter.
- Pairing
- Two characters a story puts together; a "ship".
- Prompt
- An idea or a line someone offers for others to write from.
- Beta reader
- Someone who reads a draft before it goes up and helps fix it.
- WIP
- Work in progress: a story still being written, chapter by chapter.
- Summary
- The one or two lines a reader sees before the story.
How to format chapters
- Post a story from Post a story: choose its fandom, give it a title and a short summary, and paste or write chapter 1.
- Add each next chapter from the story's own page, with Add the next chapter. Only the device that posted the story sees that button, so nobody else can add chapters to it.
- Leave a blank line between paragraphs. A line that starts with > shows as a quote.
- A long chapter is fine. The archive cuts it into parts at paragraph breaks and posts them in order, so nothing is lost.
- Put warnings a reader would want (major character death, violence, self-harm) in the summary.
Report spam or abuse here
Every story and review can be reported. Three reports from different people hide it until it is looked at.
Report spam, flooding, personal information about anyone, a story in the wrong fandom or with the wrong rating, and anything illegal. You can report a post on its board page.
For a takedown or anything urgent, write to [email protected].
Reviews and stars: how they work
Anyone can review a story on its page. A review can give the story 1 to 5 stars, or none.
The story page shows how many reviews it has and the average of the stars readers gave. Stars from the story's own writer do not count.
Be kind in reviews. Critique the story, never the writer.
Help desk: questions and answers
- How do I post a story?
- Choose Post a story. Pick its fandom and its rating, give it a title and a short summary, and write or paste chapter 1. How to format chapters has the details.
- How do I add the next chapter?
- Open the story and choose Add the next chapter. Only the device that posted the story shows that button.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Your drafts, what you have read and your 18+ answer are kept on this device. Stories you post carry a mark made on this device, so readers can tell your stories from a writer with the same pen name.
- How do I find a story?
- On the index, type in Find a story, use the filters or Titles A to Z, or open Authors, Series, Rec lists, Search or Random story.
- Something here breaks the rules. What do I do?
- Read Report spam or abuse here.
- Where can I ask something else?
- Ask on Verse's open boards (the forums every story here is posted to), or write to [email protected].
Site news and the news archive
What is new in the archive, newest first. Talk about it on Verse's open boards.
News archive
- Terms, disclaimer and credits
- The footer links the terms of use, a disclaimer and the credits.
- Open a file in the post form
- Open a .docx, .txt, .html or .md file as chapter 1, and check it in Preview before you post.
- Hits, figures and the first story
- Hits count real reads of each story. Each row shows its chapters, words, reviews and stars. The first writer opens a fandom and posts the story with one press.
- Challenges, rec lists and series
- Writing challenges have a last day, signed entries and winners. Share a rec list by link. A story can be a part of a series, complete or in progress, and get 1 to 5 stars.
- A feed of new stories
- Follow the newest stories by RSS.
- Authors, Random story and the help desk
- Find a writer's stories, open a random story, and read the answers on the help desk. The index has story details, filters, sort and Titles A to Z.
- Find, link and export
- Find a story, link to it, export the list as CSV, use the keyboard shortcuts, and read the archive in German.
- The archive opens
- The archive opens with a Writing Room, and it works offline. It starts empty. The first story shows when a writer posts it.
Terms of use
- Everything posted here is public. Anyone can read it, link to it and quote it.
- Stories, chapters and reviews here are posts on Verse's open boards, so the board rules apply to every post.
- Post only writing that you have the right to post.
- There are no accounts. A pen name is a name, not a login. The mark made on your device tells your stories apart from a namesake's.
- A post that breaks a rule can be hidden or removed. Three reports from different people hide a post until it is looked at.
- To ask for a takedown (your personal information, illegal content or a copyright claim), write to [email protected] with the link to the post.
Disclaimer
Stories here are fan fiction. Readers write them, not Verse.
Characters, places and worlds belong to the people and companies that made them. Verse is not connected with them, and no story here is official.
A story says what its writer thinks, not what Verse thinks. Each writer picks the rating and the warnings, so read the summary before the story.
Verse charges nothing to read or to post.

Writing rules & guidelines
- The board rules apply here: anything legal, no doxxing, illegal content removed and reported.
- Adult stories go only in fandoms marked 18+. Sexual content involving anyone under 18 is never allowed, in any fandom, whatever the canon says.
- Post your own writing. Credit a co-writer, a beta reader or a prompt you answered.
- Be kind in reviews. Critique the story, never the writer.
- A review can give the story 1 to 5 stars. The story page shows the average of those stars.
